Our Restructuring, Insolvency, and Bankruptcy Practice Group is reputed as one of the best teams in the Nigerian legal industry. A testament to our standing in the industry, our Firm is retained by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria in the recovery of an Eligible Bank Asset Valued at N22Billion; in respect of this instruction our Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Practice Group has obtained a judgment valued at N12.9Billion. Our Firm has also successfully wound-up a Nigerian financial institution within 14 (fourteen) weeks from the presentation of the winding-up petition through full trial to delivery of the judgment, which resulted in the tracing and recovery of cash and assets valued at over N100Million.
We have also successfully enforced Nigerian court judgements across multiple jurisdictions. In this regard, we enforced a Nigerian High Court Judgment emanating from complex corporate insolvency proceedings in the UK, where, in direct consequence of the successful registration of the Judgment, assets and accounts were located and frozen, resulting in the recovery and transfer to Nigeria of substantial funds from the sequestrated bank accounts and assets. We also obtained and enforced a worldwide “freezing” court order issued by a Nigerian High Court, which resulted in the tracing, location and sequestration of the funds of a defaulting insolvent Nigerian financial institution held with the American Express Bank (AMEX).
